Millennials and Gen Z get a bad rep for not caring about politics, but we know that’s not true. We do care. Our lack of engagement isn’t apathy, it’s reflective of systemic barriers to participation (that and perhaps our debilitating anxiety about the future of our planet and society).

The thing is, Millennials and Gen Z make up the majority of eligible voters in Canada, but young people are consistently left out of political discussions. It’s time for our leaders to meet us where we are – on social media – and give it to us straight, no chaser.

We want to hear what sort of leaders they are, what they are working on and where their priorities lie, and, arguably more importantly, we want to remind them that Millennials and Gen Z are out here, and we want to give them an opportunity to engage with us more than they do.

After all, our elected officials work for us too.
