Poetry and the Power of Storytelling with Lydia Collins

Join us virtually for Poetry and the Power of Storytelling – a workshop with Lydia Collins.

Lydia Collins (she/her) is an Author, Educator, and Creator with over 5 years of experience working in HIV prevention and consent education specifically for African, Caribbean and Black communities in Canada. She has published 3 chapbooks of poetry between 2019-2021, and produced a collaborative video project Joy Is Our Birthright with UNILEARNAL. Lydia is currently the Learning & Development Specialist at the African and Caribbean Council on HIV/AIDS in Ontario. Her unwavering love for writing and community health are what keep her committed to amplifying the most marginalized voices through her work.

This workshop will discuss the power of storytelling as a tool for healing, and how poetry allows us to talk about our experiences in creative ways. Reclaiming the narration of our individual stories gives us agency and the ability to own our experiences authentically and unapologetically. Participants will also engage in an activity for them to practice telling their own stories through poetry!

Join us virtually on Tuesday, March 15th at 1 p.m. (ADT)!
